Jerry Moffatt - Revelations
2009 Grand Prize Winner – Banff Mountain Book Festival
At the age of sixteen Jerry Moffatt thought he was the best sixteen year old climber in the country. A year later he burst onto the scene in a very big way repeating Strawberries at Tremadog. Crags Magazine carried an image of the young Moffatt on Strawberries and with that the Jerry Moffatt story grew legs.
From Tremadog Moffatt moved into the Peak District to Stoney and so began a staple diet of hard rock and relentless training. Pretty soon the Ron and Jerry Show, in which he vied with Ron Fawcett for top-dog slot, was in full swing. His was a mighty rise and it went on all the way to the top of the climbing standards of the day. Moffatt stayed at that lofty position for over two decades before stepping back from current edge activities in 2002.
The full nitty gritty is laid out by Grimes for all to read. The Grand Prize Winner at the 2009 Banff Mountain Book Festival and a finalist in the 2009 Boardman Tasker Mountain Literature Awards, Jerry Moffatt – Revelations, is indeed every inch a revelation. The paperback 2nd edition keeps that revelation going…
